Introducing the AIPLA Target-Substantive Liaison and Mentoring Programs
As one of the largest associations of intellectual property attorneys in the world, AIPLA is proud to work through its members on cutting-edge issues of intellectual property advocacy and education. We continuously strive to find ways to be the premiere intellectual property organization, giving members current information and expressing their views to the Executive Branch, the Congress, and the Judiciary.
In our recent membership survey, we asked you how we could improve the AIPLA experience, and you answered that you would like to learn how to become more involved with the work of the AIPLA.
Our current strategic plan is heavily focused on improving and facilitating members’ access to such participation. One of the initiatives in the plan is to build more roads to participation, and to provide better directions to get to these roads. Accordingly, we are excited about presenting you with these AIPLA Members’ Participation Resource Materials.
You will find below details about our Target-Substantive Committee (TSC) Liaison Program. This program reaches out to young lawyers, corporate lawyers, women lawyers and diverse lawyers, in order to get them even more involved in our day-to-day work. You will also find guidance on how to increase your participation even if you do not belong to one of these groups, because we are interested in encouraging active participation by all our members.
Finally, you will find information on AIPLA Mentorship Guidelines, which sets out the basics about our new Mentorship program. In the initial phase, the program will be focused on providing mentor and mentee opportunities for the TSC liaisons. As we learn from this “pilot” effort, we will continue to expand the Mentorship program.
Thank you for reviewing these materials; you have taken the first step to getting more involved.
