Frequently Asked Questions about the AIPLA Website
For additional information on how to use the AIPLA website, click here (PDF).
AIPLA is updating its database. This will help us and you access your information more efficiently!
We've been working to help improve AIPLA's information services delivery and we're pleased to announce a new step in the overall redesign of the AIPLA web environment. More improvements will be coming later this year. We're starting with a new member login, which not only has a new look, but also incorporates new features, including:
Important login changes:
- Your member ID is changing. If your member number is less than six digits, you will need to add leading zeroes. For example, if your member ID is "123," your username will be "000123."
- New login credentials. Your username will be email or member ID. Importantly, your password is changing. Your password has been set to a default password of your last name, with first letter capitalized. Once you login, please change your password.
We've also incorporated new features, including:
- Profile: You now have a profile snapshot that will show you the information we have on file for you, any meetings you may be registered for, any committees that you currently serve on, and any other recent activity. How you update your profile will be different. You will now be able to provide multiple addresses to manage your interaction with us, including where and how you would like to receive certain mailings and publications.
- We've expanded our Online shopping cart to provide members the ability to purchase publications, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and other AIPLA products online.
- Online Registration for Meetings will have a different look and feel.
- Member Directory - We're making it easier to find other AIPLA members. We've added a new search by Last Name by clicking on one of the quick search A-Z links found at the bottom of the page. You can still search the member directory using a number of helpful filters.
- Renewing Membership will continue in the new shopping cart environment.
- Additional features and enhancements will be added over time, so watch for future announcements!

A: Yes. Once you’ve logged into the site, go to the Member Center. On the left-hand side of the page, you will see a link for “Renew Membership”. Q: I paid my annual membership dues, but just received a past due notice. Who do I talk to about this?
A: Our Membership Department works very hard to ensure that all records are kept as up-to-date as possible. Even so, occasionally, a dues notice and its payment may cross in the mail. If you are unsure about your membership status, contact our Membership Department. They will be more than happy to assist you.

As a Member, logged into the website, you can view past AIPLA Reports for concise reports on AIPLA’s advocacy related activities.
Q: I have not received an AIPLA Reports e-mail in some time. What’s going on?
A: There could be a number of reasons you have not been receiving AIPLA Reports. We recently began producing the publication as a part of AIPLA Direct, a bi-weekly e-mail newsletter. Although it has a different, more eye-catching look, it contains the same AIPLA Reports information as before. If you have a new email address, but haven’t registered the new email address with AIPLA, we’re probably sending it to the old address. If you’ve changed your email address, please contact AIPLA’s Membership Department or call 703-415-07870 to update your information.
If neither of the above applies to you, you may want to check with your IT Department. Some more stringent firewalls may block AIPLA Direct because of its html format without the proper permissions.
Q: How can I find back issues of AIPLA Reports or AIPLA Direct?
A: AIPLA Direct is an e-mail newsletter and is therefore not available in archive format on the AIPLA website. You can, however, view archival issues of AIPLA Reports by going to the IP Issues & Advocacy section and clicking on the link to “AIPLA Reports.” The archives are available in both html and PDF format and only accessible to AIPLA Members, so be sure to log in before accessing this area.
